Bibliographical information services
The Palacký University Library provides users with advisory and reference bibliographic-information services (BIS) related to the issue of available information sources and access to databases, bibliographic citations, publishing support, etc.
It processes research for teachers, researchers and postgraduate students of Palacký University. The search order can be filled in online or in person at the BIS office (Central Library – Armoury, ground floor, door no. 159). You can also apply for a branch search at the relevant branch of the Palacký University Library of the given faculty.

Information Education
The Department of Information Education offers teachers and academic staff training within which students learn to work with electronic information resources and after which they will be more efficient in searching documents for their work. The content of the training and its scope can be arranged. The most frequent topics are the right search strategy, search in catalogue and in licensed databases, paid by the university or ISO 690 citations.
Open Science Consulting
The Palacky University Library offers support and advice in the field of open science. These include open access publishing (magazine/repository selection,magazine verification, open licenses, etc.) and research data management (data management plans, compliance with FAIR principles, etc.). It also manages open access publishing in selected publishers under transformation agreements (Read & Publish). Historical collection department
The historical collection department research room is located on the 2nd floor of the Central Library in Zbrojnice (Armoury) and will be open only for in-house study of ordered materials depending on the capacity of the research room. The Palacký University Library owns approximately 2,500 old prints, which are gradually processed and placed in a separate collection in the catalog. Here they can be searched and ordered for study. Studying is only possible under the supervision of a administrator, subject to strict safety and hygiene measures. Students, academic staff and the public can be interested, and their visit is subject to filling out the so-called Researcher´s sheet. The operation and obligations of users who want to study in the research room are governed by the so-called Researcher´s Rules. To order full-time study, it is necessary to contact Mr. Lubomír Borýsek (lubomir.borysek01@upol.cz or +420 606 259 226).

Night Reading Room
The space in the ground floor of the Central Library is designed for night studies. Users can connect their own competers to the campus network. Night reading room is equipped with dining and beverage vending machines and private toilet. Enter and exit from the space of reading room is every hour (+/- 10 minutes) with your ID card (ISIC). Enter is possible from street Biskupské náměstí 1 (on the porter's side). Surveillance in the study performs nightly guard service at the reception (phone 1102). The study room is open all day, details od the operation are available in the operating rules of the night study in the Documents section.
Borrowing in-library books into the night study room
Readers can borrow books for in-library reading and studiyng into the owernight study room from 1st November 2017. You can borrow books one hour before the library closes. It is necessary to return the books the next day by 9:00 AM. Readers can borrow a maximum of 15 books. Category A readers can have a maximum of 25 books. The books for overnight use have to be returned into the book drop situated opposite the Armoury gatehouse. In the case of late return you will be fined 50,- Kč for each individual book per hour.

Excursions
Zbrojnice (Palacký University Central Library or “the Armoury”) offers guided tours both for general public and professionals. It includes a tour around the historical building and obtaining information about library services. Tours are free of charge. It is necessary to make a reservation either by phone (585 631 749) or by email (vypujcka@upol.cz).
Cultural Events
Palacký University Library (“the Armoury”) organizes various cultural events such as evening reading sessions, exhibitions, public debates, The-Night-in-the-Library event and “Board Games Evening”. It participates in Olomoucká muzejní noc (Olomouc Museum Night), Researcher´s Night and European Heritage Day regularly. Both students and general public are welcome. Free of charge.

Petanque course in Armoury courtyard is freely accesible to the public. We offer playing balls for rent - on reception on the ground floor of the library (ISIC).
