Zbrojnice (Armoury): Library

The Central Library is located at the heart of the Palacký University in Olomouc in the building of the Theresian Armoury. It provides a wide range of library services, 280,000 documents on all topics, a large study space, and additional services. There are hundreds of study places and a modern environment in the historical building, which also hosts specialized departments centralized within the whole Palacký University Library. The Armoury is also a favourite meeting place, a place for study teams, exhibitions, reading events, and other events held by the library. There is a night study room open continuously.

When the library is closed, entry and exit from the night study room is always allowed on the hour (±10 minutes). The only entrance is from Biskupské nám. 1, from the gatehouse side, and you must show your ISIC (UPOL) student card.

We provide all library and information services in eight rooms with a free selection of books. Books can be borrowed and returned at the lending desk. We have 450 study places and computers with internet access available to users.

Guided tours of the Central Library (Armoury)

We offer guided tours of the Armoury for both professionals and the general public. Participants will learn how to navigate the library and use its services. Tours are free of charge. Advance booking is required by phone at +420 585 631 749 or by email at vypujcka@upol.cz.

Cultural events

The Palacký University Library organizes cultural events such as film screeninga in the library, a book club, and a board game night. The Central Library also regularly participates in the European Heritage Days, the MEET UP, and the Majáles festival. All events are free and open to students and the public.
